Wedding Info

“I would highly recommend Aidan as a wedding photographer as he is an absolute delight to work with. From our very first interaction with Aidan he was down to earth, helpful, responsive and ACTUALLY listened to what we asked for. We are delighted with how our photos have turned out and the service which Aidan provided all round, which is top notch. He captured the essence of our day as it unfolded, as well as being gentle (not forceful), friendly and fun too!”
— Faith Quille - December 2015 Wedding

I love wedding photography, I love the essence of it, the laughter the joy, the raw emotion. Through angles captured, forms unfold, light and shadow provide the substance for my unique imagery. It gives me great joy to capture images that tell real stories, each story a memorable day in each of our lives that will not be repeated. It is very personal this wedding photography business of mine.

I am very interested in people, from all walks of life. There is nothing better than chatting to a person about their lives, their vision for how they see their wedding day unfold. It is always a pleasure to be part of this day.

My motto is to observe, working quietly in the background, noticing situations that make each wedding special and capturing such my way. The well used term “unobtrusive” springs to mind but I prefer ‘there when you need me’. I am a master storyteller and seasoned wedding photographer, your friend before, throughout the day and after.

I'd be delighted to take a call, preferably early in the week - to arrange to meet up/chat and we can go through your wants and wishes in more detail over a choice cup of coffee, your call, my shout. I know some wonderful venues right arcross the city where we could meet. Lets talk: 00353 87 2861544 or 00353 1 4602617

FAQ

Which photographers inspire you?

I am a bit of a romantic at heart, (the love of black and white photography might just give this away!) so I have to say Cartier Bresson, Rene Burri, Edward Weston, Stephen Shore and Marcus Bell but to mention a few.

Do you photograph engagement shoots?

Yes I do and I love to capture pre-wedding images for a number of reasons - the main one being that it helps to break the ice in photographic terms and gives each client a chance to be in front of the camera before their big day.

How long is a normal or full days wedding shoot?

A full day for me is 7 hours photography, e.g; 11am until 6pm. I can do longer or shorter depending on your requirements. Have a look at my four packages which give you a great idea of the possibilities.

If I am interested, when should I book you?

As soon as you have booked your venue, then confirmed your wedding date with me, I'll let you know immediately if available. Please don't leave it too late to contact me if interested as dates fill up quickly and I don't like to disappoint.

What do your prices start at?

Prices start from 1300 euro. My most popular package costs 2000 euro which includes 10 hours photography (bridal preparations until first dance) and all edited images as a direct download, USB or on a DVD.

Albums start from 300 euro and I have an amazing range of albums for all tastes.

If you would like me for a few hours only fill in this form here giving me as much information as possible.

Do you charge travel for irish weddings?

Yes, if the venue is over 25 km then I charge 50 cents per km. I’ll gladly workout a fair price for Nationwide travel when booked.

why pick aidan oliver as your wedding photographer?

Because you will get me a person who loves what he does, who will got he extra mile for you on your day. I make it an easy process. I watch, I observe then I capture. Occasionally I might see a scene that would provide a great backdrop for a shot, and I as you might you accompany me over there but that is it, no fuss, no complications, no ego, just quality imagery and more importantly we have a bit of fun. It is your day after all and I am simply an observer.

Do you provide a contract?

Yes, I provide a contract that I ask to be returned as soon as you can fill it out and at least a month before your wedding.

How much is your booking fee?

A booking fee of 300 euro is payable to secure each date, the balance is due no more than five days before your wedding.

Do you travel Nationwide/Worldwide?

Yes I do, I regularly photograph weddings in the North, South, East and West of Ireland. I have also photographed weddings in Italy, Malaysia and the USA.

Are there extras that are payable post wedding?

Not unless you veer outside of the original contract. The agreed price will be stated on the contract form and that is all you will be charged.

How can we pay you?

You can pay with cheque, cash, bank draft or direct bank transfer. My bank details are provided on the contract form.

Are you insured?

Yes, I have public liability and personal indemnity insurance. I would not operate without both insurances. Copies of both insurances are available upon request.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes, I bring at least two cameras with me along with a range of lenses for all purposes. I also bring Bowens lighting units as a precaution should I need extra light but I prefer to use available light where possible. Some venues are dark so we understand these conditions, particularly the older venues.

What type of equipment do you use?

I use Nikon & Hasselblad professional cameras and lenses.

If we have time or if we do a post wedding shoot then I would love to introduce you to my Hasselblad 503CW film camera - lets capture something wonderful and have a bit of fun.

Describe your style

Working silently in the background, capturing all the detail, the exchanges, the little things that make up your day so unique. I see things differently and I work quick to capture such. Part photojournalist, part unobtrusive (I prefer 'here when you need me'), fully aware and willing to help out where and when possible - I am both artist and photographer. See here for some samples of my art outside of weddings.

For your family photos, I work lightning fast to ensure you get to spend as much time chatting and enjoying your day.

How many images will I get?

Normally between 600 upwards for a full 7 hour shoot. This is a rough estimate, you will probably get more. It is not about the quantity. A full wedding should be easily captured within 300-400 images.

Do you photograph same sex weddings?

Yes I do and I love to.

How long will it be before I get my images?

It normally takes me 3-6 weeks to edit each wedding. In quieter times this is usually less. Wedding albums take longer as most clients take their time choosing images for albums.

What format will I receive my images on?

You will get a beautifully presented USB key or an online download option with all our weddings. The direct download option is very popular, particularly for my overseas clients.

Can you provide a second photographer?

Yes if needed. A charge will apply depending on time needed and wedding location. This option is becoming more popular and I have a number of photographer contacts who are wonderful at what they do.

DO YOU CREATE PACKAGES specific to OUR needs?

This is my speciality, we sit down, have a coffee (on me) and work out what you might like. I am here to help where and when possible. Packages are priced as competitively as possible.

can you provide a photobooth?

I do a take on a Photo Booth which clients think is ingenious. Ask me for more details. I also work with a Photo Booth supplier who's job is to arrive when I leave to capture the fun later on as your wedding progresses. The cost of this service is 500 euro.

WHAT ABOUT testimonials?

Absolutely, click here to view a range of testimonials from my clients over the years.

what's the next step?

Lets grab a coffee, have a no obligation chat and you decide. Most clients having seen my portfolio, one or two weddings and having spoken to me generally book me immediately - they know that are in the best hands.

So give me a call on 00353 (0)87 2861544 or 00353 (0)1 4602617 to book this meeting or for a no-obligation chat. Early during week is best.
